Richard creates in pencil, pen, acrylic paints, gouache, chalk pastels, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as with digital cameras.

Most of his work can be described as realism although some of it is surreal and/or abstracted. He often includes text in his works to make a point that's humorous, ideological or both. Recent works are influenced by Warhol, Smart, Hockney and Lichtenstein, and much of his work has been described as neo-pop. He is also creating a series of picture ebooks that bring together his love of photography, drawing, text and technology.

Richard uses the computer as another tool for the production of art. Working on the computer has meant that he can (and has) produced art for websites and printed books. He has also painted murals on walls and construction site hoardings, designed brochures, maps and posters.

He lives and works in the Illawarra on the south coast of New South Wales in Australia. His inspiration often comes from the nearby beaches and rainforest.

about this web site

This site will grow as new works are added. Also more details will be added to the pages on individual works. The plan is to include concept sketches and notes from visual diaries so that you can get an idea of the process as well as the result.
